Thanksgiving Already!?!?!

I can't believe it is already November!! With that said, I happily put away my spider and bat decor & have my room ready for turkeys and Pilgrims!!! I am LOVING the new table headers in my classroom this year!!

I am also REALLY excited to begin using my new Thanksgiving Extravaganza Unit next week!!! This unit is HUGE!!! It includes lesson plans and activities that will take you through the entire month of November as you learn about the Native Americans, Pilgrims, have a little turkey fun & so much more!! It was created using the common core standards and incorporates social studies & language arts while teaching reading skills, strategies, and the common core standards.  I have also included a ton of crafts & math and writing activities as well!

So... Next week we are going to begin learning about the Native Americans!  I like learning about the Indians of the Great Plains because I LOVE creating a classroom tepee, going on a buffalo hunt, and I also really like using the book Buffalo Before Breakfast by Mary Pope Osborne.  And... it's a plus that the kiddos get to compare the culture of two different tribes.

We're going to make these cute tepees and write about what we have learned.

Next week we are also going to begin learning about the Wampanoag Indians. You can't learn about Thanksgiving without learning about the Wampanoag... right?!?! We will be using the book If You Lived at The Time of Squanto to learn all of our facts and then adding pages to this project each day...

I've also got all of my literacy stations prepped and ready to go!  The next few weeks, we are going to be focusing on -ed ending sounds {/d/, /t/, /ed/}, contractions, & plural nouns!  I think my kiddos are going to LOVE playing memory using irregular plural nouns. I have worksheets and recording sheets to go with each skill included in the unit!

I knew I had to focus on -ed ending sounds after having writing conferences with my students last week.  I can't tell you how many students spelled ... jumped and walked {jumpt/walkt} incorrectly!!!!

I'm also excited to make these cute turkeys next week!!!

And... It's even better that I have a TON of other activities already planned for the following weeks!  Putting my products on Teachers pay Teachers has really kept me organized this year!  I am LOVING it!!  Hear are a few things that I am sooo excited about!

So excited for a reading group to read...

And...

And... This unit includes SO MUCH MORE.. writing, reading response sheets, math stations, interactive notebook pages, comprehension guides, I could go on and on!!!! I feel more organized than I have in a LONG time... Thank you TpT for encouraging and inspiring me to put all of my lessons & activities in one place!  Of course, I will have to adjust my plans each year to meet the needs of my students.... but, it is AMAZING that all of my activities are TOGETHER and I'm no longer going to have to search through files or folders to find what I need! If you are interested in any of these ideas you can find them at my TpT store by clicking HERE! Have a great weekend friends!!!!
